Abstract
As the article notes in view of the turbulent events of the 2020 election campaign, the growing distrust of citizens in the structures of central government and national political leaders, as well as the negative consequences of state policy in the economic, social and cultural spheres, the issue of studying political security as a component of the national security of Ukraine has become relevant. The author draws attention to the fact that the onset of uncertain results of political activity creates a threat to national security with difficult-to-predict socio-political consequences, and also emphasizes that political activity should be in the sphere of public relations of both government institutions and civil society institutions. It is concluded that political security is an object of public administration, which is aimed at ensuring the sustainable development of political relations in society. Political security requires a strategic and conceptual framework in certain regulatory forms for the next and consistent implementation of the created mechanism for regulating existing public relations in the field of ensuring political stability in Ukraine. Based on the analysis of the prognostic, informational, preventive, mobilizing, liquidation, security, control functions of political security, it is noted that in modern conditions, political security should be considered as a multi-structural institution of public administration, which has a system of organizational and legal means to protect the political rights and freedoms of citizens. Political sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability from encroachments with the use of force protection in the event of armed aggression or armed conflict. Military means are referred to a special group of political means, and the place of military security in ensuring political security as a component of national security is noted. Further scientific research is proposed to be directed to research on the prevention and neutralization of threats and challenges to political security, in particular, issues of ensuring the stability of the constitutional system of the state, observance of democratic procedures for holding elections, implementation and guarantees of constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens, control of the activities of state bodies by civil society.
