Abstract

The research aims to identify the features of the functioning of verbs of the lexico-semantic group of physical impact on an object as a part of comparative constructions using the material of the Yakut language. Scientific novelty is accounted for by the fact that the study of the functioning of comparative constructions expressed by verbs of various semantic subgroups in Yakut linguistics is a previously unexplored topic. The researcher considers the most common comparative constructions with verbs of the lexico-semantic group of physical impact on an object belonging to the following subgroups: verbs of pressure, touch, changing the position of an object, damaging and striking. As a result of the research, it has been found that comparisons with verb forms are used mainly when describing a person’s mental state. Verb forms are also often used to compare a person’s appearance and objects of the environment with any action, contribute to a vivid and colourful depiction of reality.
