Abstract
The article presents the results of an experimental study on the nomination of photographs by native speakers of Russian and Chinese. The question is raised about the possibility of the existence of figurative nomination strategies determined by the culture and language of the nominator. The nominations of photographs with images of a person (representatives of Russian and Chinese cultures) included in the situation are considered. The classification of the received figurative nominations is given: nominations assigned for the object depicted in the photograph; nominations based on the designation of the situation as a whole. The specificity of assigned onyms associated with Russian and Chinese linguistic culture is analyzed: the predominance of an object or subject type of nomination, features of evaluative characteristics associated with culture, “points of attention” in photography, also conditioned by culture; an appeal to precedent texts, due to the “recognition” of the native cultural context in the photograph.
