Abstract

In his work N. Leskov was based on visual impressions of Old Believers’ icon painting. But as an iconographist he didn’t mark out this tradition considered it to be the «stroganovsky school» as opposite to present scientists. Leskov formed this conviction due to I.Sakharov’s works and being under the influence of Old Believers’ views about icon painting traditions and history. However, modern study of art regards the «stroganovsky school» as a stylistic trend in the Russian icon painting of the close of XVI – the beginning of XIX century. The traits of this trend were transformed and extended in the Old Believers’ icon painting tradition.
