Abstract

This paper is based on the fact that many Korean netizens have been showing ardent reaction to the digital narrative at the mobile contents platform, storyball, which includes the stories of personal experience in the U.S. company. Narratives become distributed and consumed actively in the case that they include stories which people want to listen to. Sometimes certain narratives become popular, which a lot of people read because they reflect the people's desire, deficiency, ideology and thoughts and is a good mirror of the times. So the study of digital narrative creating sensations nowadays can deepen the understanding of people's conciousness and popular sentiment at that time. This paper attempts to find natures and meanings of stories through the explorative study of the popular digital narrative. The writer of narrative who is also the main character of it told stories about his embarrassed experiences in the U.S. culture for the first time. But writer told that he becomes to admit the rationality of U.S. way finally. On the other hand he tolds that in some ways U.S. culture was not familiar with him, which means that U.S. way reflects the rational and individualistic culture of America. The investigation of netizens' comments on the narrative reveals that they show more favor the rationality of U.S. culture than the writer, which is behind the many comments on the digital narrative. The digital narrative deserves some attention that the story evoked the hot response of many Korean netizen in that family life and privacy are respected, bribe and kickback are forbidden, recruitment and staffing is decided just upon the job related criteria regardless of gender and age in U.S. culture. It implied that the digital narrative has narratine meaning, which it reflects what Korean employee as deficient subject desire.
