Abstract

The primary purpose of this study was to develop the curriculum of Leisure·Recreation professional in universities toward establishing the department of Leisure·Recreation. It is important to educate them the importance of producing qualified professionals in Leisure·Recreation at the university level. It must be recognized that the competencies that are generic to the Leisure·Recreation professionals must be identified to establish general guidelines for developing a curriculum. It is clear that an individual acquires some professional knowledge and competencies through formal and informal educational programs. A career in the leisure service area requires unique foundational knowledge best acquired by enrolling in an undergraduate program that offers the appropriate degree. That is, the most important element in developing a professional career in the leisure service area is to study at an university that offers an appropriate degree in Leisure·Recreation. Consequently, the curriculum development for Leisure·Recreation professional is urgently needed to accumulate the body of knowledge and to produce qualified professionals in the field. The curriculum for Leisure·Recreation professional must be developed to produce qualified professionals in Leisure·Recreation which will result in a healthy and economically successful society.
