Abstract

The first part attempts to describe how ideas of honor and dignity have existed in pre-modern history.The ideas of honor and dignity have been reflected in the French Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen in 1776 and amendments of the 1791 Constitution of the United States, leading to level of constitutions of countries across the globe. It can be considered that the concept of “Natural rights” spread throughout the United States and Europe has directed to the protection of human honor and dignity.The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, a multilateral treaty adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1966, is one of the significant documents that has raised issues of human honor and dignity at the international level.The concept and theory on human honor and dignity have been initially developed at the level of national policy in Mongolia through its adoption of the 1992 Constitution. Therefore, human honor and dignity have been placed in the top of human values of life, and thereinafter, those issues have not been viewed separable from the existence of individuals.There have been challenges to conduct analysis from theoretical perspectives of issues of protecting human honor and dignity, and the quality of legal coordination on human honor and dignity protection of members of societies depends on the outcome of the protection. Overcoming the challenges depends on comprehensive theoretical studies and research philosophical and legal aspects of the issues.
