Abstract

The article focuses on the description of synonymic sets in two fictional languages - Dothraki and Na'vi. The objective of the research is to identify the key characteristics of synonymic sets in these artlangs. In two languages, binary and polynary synonymic sets are formed, including ideographic, stylistic and semantic-stylistic synonyms. The authors reveal that synonyms differ in such semantic components as time, degree and attendant circumstances. In the Dothraki language, larger synonymic sets are formed to describe significant phenomena in the world of fictional people groups; synonymic sets of the Na'vi language are characterized by synonyms with a greater variety of components in the structure of their lexical meanings.
