Abstract
The low bath ratio dyeing method has been developed to realize an energy and resources-saving and prevention of environmental pollution in dyeing process. The main points of this development are : (1) Low bath ratio dyeing The bath ratio was reduced from 1 : 1220 to1 : 45 by means of an uniform and high density (0.30.4g/cm3) packing of wool or polyester slivers into the baskets. The effects of the low bath ratio dyeing are as follows : (a) Reduced consumption of steam (60%), water (60%), dyestuffs and chemicals (10%). (b) Reduced heating time for dyeing.(2) Automatic materials handling systemThe practical application of low bath ratio dyeing was achieved by the development of automatic materials handling system. Newly developed units are as follows : (a) sliver cans, (b) sliver packing apparatus, (c) sliver pressing apparatus, (d) cans grouping and arranging station, and (e) sliver pushing-out apparatus. These units were associated with automatic conveyance system, and the total system were completed as the unattended dyeing system.
