Abstract

The paper deals with the role of gastronomic tourism in the territories socio-economic development in the context of decentralization in Ukraine. Gastronomic tourism is a specialized type of tourism, which aims to acquaint tourists with the gastronomic features and culture of a particular area. Getting acquainted with the gastronomic culture is the main purpose of the respective tours. In addition to gastronomic tours, the main forms of gastronomic tourism are gastronomic festivals, events and other forms of tourism, in which gastronomic tourism is a companion (or part). The main areas of stimulating socioeconomic development of local communities by gastronomic tourism are the development of transport infrastructure, expanding the network of hotels and restaurants, stimulating entrepreneurial activity, tourism branding, socio-cultural and educational development of local communities, increasing employment, strengthening tourism competitiveness of territories. Due to the latest legislative changes, territorial communities with significant tourist resources have been able to manage their use more effectively, in particular through the organization of rural, ecological and gastronomic tourism, as well as through support for the establishment of specialized accommodation facilities. At the same time, the competitiveness of destinations requires their diversification, so only gastronomic tourism will not solve all the socio-economic problems of local communities and will not direct intensive tourist flows to them. A comprehensive program of territorial community’s socio-economic development is needed, taking into account their potential and regional conditions. Nowadays, this type of tourism is becoming an important factor in the local community’s socio-economic development. World practice shows that gastronomic tourism can be the driving force that improves the life quality in regions with different economic potential. The main advantages of gastronomic tourism are its essential connection with the satisfaction of basic human needs, as well as the possibility of development regardless of the attractive natural or historical (cultural) objects presence in a certain area.
