Abstract

In the following thesis, the concept of gender equality as first reflected through the International, European and National legal framework is examined. Gender equality policy as a pillar of action of the Greek Public Administration is embodied through the integration of gender dimension (gender mainstreaming). It is reflected through the participation of women in responsible positions within the Public Administration. Recent developments in European level are addressed through the adoption of the Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025 and internationally as a goal to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In our country, the recent legislative and institutional interventions in the implementation of gender equality policy in the Greek Public Administration were implemented mainly through the National Action Plan for Gender Equality 2016-2020 and the legislative regulations empowered by Law 4604/2019 in order to promote substantive equality. It remains to be seen if all the above actions were effecitve.
