Abstract
Background Oil production wells are estimated with a predetermined periodicity for oil and water content in the produced fluids, for the amount of associated petroleum gas (APG), which is taken into account on the exit of initial water separation unit only as a finished product. Organization of the APG accounting from individual wells, groups of wells, evaluation of gas content in the fluid flowing in the separation unit, accounting of water and oil content after separation unit will increase the efficiency of oil field development and will optimize the operation of separation units tanks and vessels. Aims and Objectives: • to develop the technology aimed to determine gas content in the water lines, oil wells and pipelines of oil gathering system; • to evaluate the residual gas content in the water systems used for reservoir pressure maintenance (RPM); • to assess the gravity separation of the gas-liquid mixture (GLM) at the inlet and outlet of the separation unit. Methods Gas content in the fluid is determined by degassing of a fixed sample of the volume at atmospheric pressure. The specially designed portable baffle is installed at sampling point of out-line in order to provide the homogenization of well product. Then the layerwise sampling is carried out from the oil pipeline via the sampler with an L-shaped probe. Results The water prepared by water separation units in the pipelines or vessels usually has the residual gas content in the range of 40 ... 80 m3/m3. For several oil facilities it was developed the dependence of the gas content of the liquid from hydrogen sulfide concentration in the water and oil. The article shows a significant difference in the gas-oil ratio magnitude of the production wells located in the roof and at the bottom of the reservoir.
