Abstract

Background Safe operation of main pipelines is associated with the quick detection of unplaned pressure drops, arising from pipeline operation failure, pipeline tapping, emergency depressurization. Aims and Objectives Development and testing of intelligent system of pressure drop detection in the main pipelines of crude oil, oil products or gas. Methods The research was conducted using advanced computer technology, intelligent pressure sensors, serial piezoceramic pressure sensors. Results 1. The intelligent system of pressure drop detection was developed. 2. This system is compatible with the existing automated control systems of main pipelines of crude oil, oil products or gas. 2. As an option in this system it is possible to control the electrical valve to send signals «accident» and «valve position» to the control room. Moreover, the system provides an option to control the cathodic protection stations and transmission of signals from the station to the control room. 4. The system determines the location of a leak with the precision up to 200 meters, in accordance with the topology of the pipeline.
