Abstract
The article analyzes the key theses and topics of discussion materials from B.V. Neiman’s paper ‘Landscapes in Boris Pasternak’ given in 1928 at the State Academy of Arts and Scholarship (GAKHN) in Moscow. The article discusses the roots and evolution of the structure of the ‘State Academy of Arts and Scholarship’ and the associated circle of scholars, as well as scholarly interest in the work of B.L. Pasternak. The main themes of Neiman’s report are shown to have been developed in subsequent studies of Pasternak’s poetry and prose up to the present moment. Moreover, Neiman’s work described many distinctive features of Pasternak’s artistic world, consistent up to the creation of the novel Doktor Zhivago.
