Abstract

Physical education is one of the most important subjects that are included in all educational levels regarding didactic and organizational objectives; besides of its contribution in developing both physical abilities and competency sides in various activities. Nowadays, the phenomenon of violence inside schools is increasing and impacting teachers, learners and society as a whole. This alarming increase triggered my curiosity to look for educational tools and solutions that may help in the protection against this phenomenon. Physical education as being a direct interaction between the teacher and the learner is loaded by a set of psychological and educational characteristics what lead us to ask the following question: Does physical education and sports’ session has a role in reducing violence among learners in secondary school. Sub-questions: Does physical education and sports’ session has a role in reducing oral violence among secondary school pupils? Does teacher’s positive treatment with pupils help in reducing physical violence among secondary school pupils? General hypothesis was that physical education and sports’ session has a role in reducing violence among secondary school pupils. Whereas, Objectives of the study was to reveal the role of physical education and sports’ session in reducing oral violence among secondary school pupils and to unveil the influence of the teacher’s positive treatment in reducing physical violence among secondary school pupils. The piloting phase for this study is conducted to guarantee the feasibility and accuracy of this research. The researcher organized a meeting with teachers of physical education and sports and a questionnaire was distributed to them and to pupils of secondary school in Chlef. This study is based on the descriptive comparative approach because of the scientific nature of the issue which is concerned with analyzing, clarifying and covering all aspects of the phenomenon. This study is applied on teachers of physical education and sports and on pupils from secondary school as well; who, are chosen in a random way in order to give equal chances to teachers and learners regardless of their level or characteristics. The sample in this study is represented in 20 teachers of physical education and sports in additions to 300 secondary school pupils from Chlef. After data analysis hypotheses are confirmed. Physical education and sports’ session is important; mainly in the stage of adolescence which is considered as the hardest one in which it is characterized by many changes, in addition to the violent behavior that cause various problems impacting the learners personality.
