Abstract

Global trends in the development of energy-efficient technologies have become the dominant factor in achieving carbon neutrality. Technologies for the production, storage and transportation of hydrogen are the most promising and are considered by many countries as decarbonizing the economy. The article provides an analysis of global trends in the transition to renewable energy sources and current problems of implementation, renewable energy sources. A high growth in the consumption of hydrogen-based energy resources is predicted. A number of European countries are able to implement a partial transition to a low-carbon economy by 2030. In Russia, due to the low demand for alternative (non-oil) energy sources in the domestic market, such a transition is unlikely to be possible in the near future. Nevertheless, global trends towards the development of renewable energy sources are quite tangible, politically and economically determined, including by the climate agenda, which will undoubtedly have an impact on the future of alternative energy sources.
