Abstract

Guidance systems is one of the most important elements inside the building, which directly affect in assisting the occupants of the building to take decisions that lead to access their goal. Guidance system design is a main part of the building design , and depends on several key elements, the most important of which is the nature of the building and activities located inside. Also the nature of the persons expected their presence inside the building, whether working or visitors or permanent residents.Guidance systems consists of several types such as guidance signs , audio-visual systems and handicapped guidance systems , also the systems for warning the building occupants in emergency situations. Design of guidance system requires many studies such as identifying points of access, analysis of spaces of the built environment, a study of trends in the anticipated movement, identify paths of different movement in addition to the analysis of patterns of users of this built environment. There are many of standard criteria for guidance systems such as design appropriate to the needs of all occupants of the building, the flexibility of use, as well as to the simplicity and clarity and compatibility with the expectations of the people.
