Abstract

In recent years, more and more fairy tales have focused on disability in order to raise awareness and inform the children’s audience. The way people with disabilities are presented in them, seems to have changed over time and differs significantly from the folk tales. The dissertation “Children with disabilities in the modern fairy tale” aims to investigate the way in which children with disabities are presented in modern fairy tales, but also the problems they face in their daily lives. Through the analysis of ten Greek-language fairy tales, an attempt is made to study the way in which modern Greek and foreign writers present heroes with disabilities and to make a comparison between them. At the same time, research is carried out on the fairytale context in which the specific heroes are included and common elements are identified. The method followed for the realization of the work was the qualitative research and specifically the content analysis, as it was considered the most appropriate.
