Abstract

This article is devoted to the history of the study of burial grounds of the late Middle Ages and Modern Times in the territory of Hlynov-Vyatka and identifying prospects for their research. The article discusses the features of the burial monuments of that era and their informative value and presents the results of their archaeological study in conjunction with information from written sources. In particular, the following burial grounds in the historical territory of Khlynov-Vyatka were investigated: Khlynovsky-I burial ground, Khlynovsky-II burial ground, cemetery at the Resurrection Cathedral, cemetery at the Intercession Church, cemetery at the Ascension Church, John-Theological Cemetery, Akhtyrsky Cemetery. These necropolises were studied at different times and to varying degree, but all of them are of great value for the study of spiritual culture, anthropological and demographic characteristics of the population of Khlynov-Vyatka in the late Middle Ages and Modern times. As a result, it is concluded that that there are great prospects for the further study of such archaeological sites and the need for their targeted research.
