Abstract

The article discusses the life and work of Petr Ivanovich Krechetov, a native of the city of Oryol, a graduate of a theological seminary, who studied law at the Yuriev University, an official in the Livonian and Amur provinces, and an emigrant in Manchuria. P.I. Krechetov was a literary figure who contributed to Russian literature and journalism at the turn of the XIX–XX centuries. His works are referred to by modern literary critics as small im-pressionist prose. His critical articles are devoted to outstanding figures of Russian culture of the early XX cen-tury. P.I. Krechetov was one of the pioneers of local history of the Oryol region. To write the article, sources are involved in scientific circulation, including those extracted from the funds of the State Archives of the Khaba-rovsk Territory, previously unknown to researchers of the work of P.I. Krechetov. Thanks to this it became possi-ble to trace his creative path in the Russian Far East and in emigration.
