Abstract

Kim, Jun-Oh's Poetics is related with the question that what is the substance of 'Tao(道)'. In other words, it is connected with the problem that how can we prescribe the attitude of recognition toward poetry, principles of poetry, essence of poetry. His poetics is concentrated on 'change' of poetic discourse. But he inquires into the problem of 'identity', as he named the subtitle of Poetics 'poetics of identity'. The question about identity carries philosophic discussion necessarily. Thus the definition of identity is dependent on the point of view that how we can understand our daily lives and history of community. As a result, the question of identity returns to the way that we establish literary perspectives. The poetic identity that he defines is not static substance as a closed system that excludes inner conflict and struggles but identity as a open system that contains historical change and dynamic tensions. His poetics aimed to surpass modernity in the experiences of modern world. It is an attempt to find identity between the differences. He tried to seek the possibility in the tradition negotiating with the modern.
