Abstract

This study intends to provide basic data to improve stress coping skills of male college student golfers by closely examining the relationship between the stress experienced by male college student golfers and stress coping. The subjects of the study are convenience samples of 185 male golfers majoring in golf at K, Y and H university which are members of Korean College Golf Association 2008. Mean age was 20.91 with SD of 1.53, mean golf career was 7,91 with SD of 3.23. Questionnaire(Lee Gae Yoon, 1990) and Stress Coping questionnaire(Yoo Jin, Park Sung Joon 1998) was used to as a measure. To analyze the causal relationship between stress and stress coping, correlation analysis and path analysis was conducted. The conclusions reached using SPSS 15.0 program and AMOS 7.0 with .05 significance level are as follows. The results of this study are as follows. Active coping and passive coping mechanism were used to cope with body figure stress, active coping and detachment coping mechanism were used in interpersonal relationship stress. For career stress, problem-focused, detachment, avoidant mechanism were used, problem-focused and avoidant mechanism were used in discrimination stress. Active coping mechanism was used in performance and injury stress, avoidant mechanism was used to cope with poor facilities and environmental conditions.
