Abstract
The paper substantiates the advantages of container shipping as a one of the most adapted methods of international shipping: cargo one-time loading and transportation to the destination; time saving during multimodal shipments; a fewer risks of cargo damage; cargo protection from negative impacting factors, such as atmospheric events and confrontations; Easy customs control procedures and more. The study evaluates the competition of container shipping in the shipping market. The global index of container shipping is analyzed and discussed the prices of container usage. Through the dynamic analysis of prices is determined the impact of container shipping prices on the product price. The article represents conclusions about the challenges of container transportation in Georgia and provides recommendations for developing and changing competitive strategies in the confrontational environment.
