Abstract

Introduction. The article analyzes the state and risks of public health as the basis for sustainable socioeconomic development and the country’s competitiveness. The criteria of public health are both objective physiological indicators of the functioning of the human body, and a wide range of socio-cultural characteristics     of the individual associated with his spiritual and moral attitudes that determine the sphere of relations between man and society, as well as man and nature. The authors identify the main factors influencing public health: material (the state of the economy and ecology, the demographic situation, the availability of modern medical care); spiritual (ideological attitudes, social ideology, moral values); technical and technological (biomedical and digital) resources. Methods. The study is based on an interdisciplinary approach that allows integrating data from various areas of scientific knowledge; to the neoclassical model of scientific research, which makes it possible to apply a holistic approach to the study of public health as a synthesis of biological and social indicators of the state of health of the population; a risk approach that allows to explore the risks and threats to public health. Results and its discussion. Indicators of public health in modern Russian society testify to the weak formation of the value attitude to health both at the individual-personal and at the state levels. The objectively low level of health culture is the result of a crisis not only in the socio-economic, but also in the spiritual and moral sphere of Russian society, and the reproduction of this most valuable development resource is largely spontaneous.
