Abstract

Statement of the problem. The article considers the problem faced by Russian teachers and international students as a result of an increasingly internationalized university audience, namely: the special features of teaching a foreign language (English) to international students from People»s Republic of China (PRC). The purpose of this article is to study the essential aspects of teaching international students from the PRC in the process of studying the discipline Foreign Language – English and possible didactic methods and tools that help deal with difficulties and problems faced by teachers of Russian universities. The research methodology consists of the analysis of Russian and international psychological and pedagogical literature, the synthesis of the authors» experience in teaching a foreign language. The study is based on the ideas of the humanist philosophy in education and project activities, the personality as a subject of self-development, the interactive concept of learning, as well as research in the field of social relationships and teaching methods of verbal communication in a foreign language. Research results. The special aspects of teaching a foreign language (English) to international students from the PRC are analyzed and justified, and methods for reducing difficulties in the process of studying the discipline Foreign Language – English are implemented. Conclusion. The tools and methods of teaching international students from China listed in the article should be applied further in order to confirm our findings as well as to study the best practices of supporting international students in other universities of Russia and abroad in order to provide our university with information on best practices for working with international students.
