Abstract

The purpose of this study is to development of scale on athletes’ emotional display rules through the approach of emotion sociology. Specifically, Clarify the concept of the composition of the athletes’ emotional display rules through an emotion sociological approach. And based on this, the main purpose is to develop an emotional display rules scale. To achieve this purpose, open questionnaires and in-depth interviews were conducted with 95 athletes in advance, and preliminary test tools were developed through categorization process. After that, the questionnaire was modified and supplemented through expert meetings, and then the question suitability test was conducted on 495 athletes working in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Chungnam areas. The results of this process are following. The final measuring tool for the athletes’ emotional display rules was divided into an explicit emotional display rules and an implicit emotional display rules. The explicit emotional display rules consisted of the factors of self-confidence, sacrificial spirit, patience, and composure. And the implicit emotional display rules consisted of the factors of obedience, strength, desire to win, and retaliation. The final number of questions consisted of a total of 34 questions.
