Abstract

The present research is the last part of the Postgraduate Program entitled Public Economics and Politics of the School of Management, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of West Attica. It aims to highlight how the leader's dysfunctional behaviours affect the individual performance of employees in organizations. Recently the concept of leadership has emerged in the research initiatives as the role of the leader has been recognized as crucial in the organizational environment. Leadership is a vital issue for each profit and non-profit organization as either can expand its capabilities or can deteriorate its future. The current study focuses on the dark side of leadership as we intend to highlight its influence on the individual performance of the employees in the organizations. It was chosen to conduct a quantitative survey in which 120 employees, who have various positions within their organization, took part. The data collected show that several of the participants in the research sample experience the effects of the problematic behaviour of their leaders, which has a negative impact on both their psychology and their performance. The IBM SPSS Statistics software package was used to process the data, and the MANOVA Multivariate Analysis technique for their analysis. The results confirmed the hypothesis that was made.
