Abstract

The textbook includes sections that form part of the general courses on the disciplines of "Heat Generating Installations" and "Water Treatment of Boiler Houses and Thermal Power Plants." These sections cover the following topics: characteristics of natural waters, requirements for the quality of feed water for steam boilers, make-up water for heating networks and hot water boilers, methods and techniques of water treatment for boiler houses, calculation and selection of Chemical Water Treatment (CWT) equipment, degassing, blowdown of steam boilers, requirements for the placement of CWT equipment, and chemical laboratories in boiler houses. Two examples of calculation and selection of CWT equipment for different compositions of source water are provided. The calculation algorithm is applicable to any boiler houses with low and medium thermal power steam and hot water boilers, operating on any type of fossil fuel. The manual is intended for students in all forms of education studying in the fields of 08.03.01 - "Industrial and Civil Engineering" (profile: Building Engineering Systems) and 13.03.01 - "Heat Power and Heating Engineering" (profile: Power Supply of Enterprises).
