Abstract

Introduction. Assessment of the health status of the population is one of the most important and ongoing tasks of healthcare. For this purpose, several groups of statistical indicators are traditionally used. The amount of statistical information in healthcare is increasing, and generalized, integral indicators (indices) of the health status of the population are widely being used. Aim. To provide a comprehensive assessment of the health of the Novosibirsk region population, determine the position of the region among the territories of the Siberian Federal District, and identify a range of problems for making management decisions to improve the public health system. Materials and methods. This study presents an example of a comprehensive assessment of population health based on ranking the indicators. To assess the health of the population of the Novosibirsk region and other territories of the Siberian Federal District, three blocks of statistical indicators were used according to official statistics for 2021. Results and discussion. A comprehensive assessment of the population's health showed that the situation in the Novosibirsk region is relatively favorable, the region is in third place in the Siberian Federal District. In addition, challenging indicators of public health have been identified for the Novosibirsk region. Conclusion. The methodology used made it possible to provide a comprehensive assessment of the health of the Novosibirsk region population and determine its position in the Siberian Federal District. The identified problems can be the basis for management decision-making in optimization of the public health system.
