Abstract

Analyzing the operational performance and limitations of the autonomous police system in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, a leading autonomous police system in South Korea, and drawing up measures to implement a practical autonomous police system is a very important process for the establishment of the best autonomous police system in South Korea. In this study, a survey of Jeju residents' awareness of the Jeju-type autonomous police system was conducted to evaluate the Jeju-type autonomous police system that has been implemented so far and to find ways to implement the Jeju-type autonomous police system to improve the safety and security services of Jeju-type. As a result of the analysis, Jeju residents' awareness of the Jeju autonomous police system is relatively high compared to other regional studies, so the autonomous police system has been relatively stable in local communities. In particular, the Jeju Municipal Police Agency's project to establish a safety management system for children's commuting routes contributed to children's traffic safety. As it is analyzed that the Jeju Autonomous Police's focus and importance are recognized as the most important office area. On the other hand, the institutional device and path to express policy opinions are the lowest compared to the high awareness and willingness of the residents of Jeju Autonomous Police System, so it is urgently necessary to promote public relations and expand institutional devices to raise awareness and participate. In addition, ensuring political neutrality is the highest basic principle for the development of the Jeju autonomous police system recognized by Jeju residents, so in the future, Jeju autonomous police system should establish an independent Jeju-type autonomous police system model to meet the needs and security needs of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.
