Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore how novice counselors who start counseling areaware of single-session counseling using the conceptual mapping method. Conceptual mappingis a way to visually demonstrate the concept that study participants perceive about aphenomenon by analyzing subjective and psychological data experienced by study participantsusing multivariate statistical methods such as multidimensional scaling (MDS). were selected asresearch participants and conducted in-depth interviews. As a result of the interview, 45 finalstatements were drawn on the novice counselor's perception of single counseling. In addition,the study participants sorted these statements into piles in terms of similarity and rated theimportance of each statement for single counseling recognition.As a result of analyzing thecollected data, four clusters were identified. This study is expected to suggest usefulimplications for novice counselors' single counseling education by exploring how they perceivesingle counseling sessions.
