Abstract

The article presents the results of a study on the strategic management of the agri-food sector in the context of sustainable development. Strategic management of the agri-food sector in the context of sustainable development is considered as a process consisting of five stages: formation of the goal and objectives of strategic management of the agri-food sector in the context of sustainable development (formation of the goal and objectives); strategic analysis of the agri-food sector environment (analysis of the environment, diagnosis of strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats; forecasting changes in the internal and external environment; clarification and/or adjustment of the goal and objectives of strategic management of the agri-food sector); selection of an agri-food management strategy in the context of sustainable development (analysis of existing agrifood management strategies; selection and justification of an agri-food management strategy (several strategies)); implementation of agri-food management strategies in the context of sustainable development (planning the implementation of the selected strategy (several strategies); motivation for the implementation of the selected strategy (several strategies); control of the implementation of the selected strategy (several strategies)); assessment of the results of strategic management of the agri-food sector in the context of sustainable development (assessment of the implementation of the purpose and objectives of strategic management of the agri-food sector; assessment of the effectiveness of strategic management of the agri-food sector; determination of the need to adjust the strategy (several strategies) of agri-food sector management). The authors, on the basis of the existing structuring of the agri-food sector and integral aspects of sustainable development in modern science, conclude that the goal of strategic management of the agri-food sector in the context of sustainable development should be the economic efficiency of balancing interconnected and interdependent economic, environmental and social subsystems and components of this sector.
