Abstract

Objectives This study examined the correlation and predictive relationship between GRIT (Growth, Resilience, Intrinsic motivation, and tenacity) scores and the level of career preparation behavior of college students with disabilities in Korea.
Methods Two measures, the Short GRIT Scale (GRIT-S) and the career preparation behavior scale, were used to collect score data of 118 college students with disabilities at D University. The researchers analyzed the data using Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis.
Results This study’s findings showed that 1) There were differences in the scores of GRIT and career behavior preparation depending on gender, year(s) of study, and disability category, 2) Positive correlations existed between partial GRIT and career preparation behavior scores, and 3) Higher GRIT scores predicted positive career preparation behavior, which explained 20.5% of the total variance.
Conclusions Based on the findings, the researchers discussed influencing factors of individualized support programs for the success of students with disabilities in higher education.
