Abstract

The aim of the research is to identify the peculiarities of the sound composition of monosyllabic roots in lexemes representing the concept of the cognitive sphere “Nature (Inanimate)”, using the material of the Tatar, Bashkir and Chuvash lexicons. Scientific novelty of the work lies in taking a focused systematic and comprehensive approach to the issue of lexico-semantic and ideographic characteristics of monosyllabic roots in the Turkic languages of the Urals-Volga region within the cognitive sphere “Nature (Inanimate)”. The paper is the first to study the interlanguage and intralanguage lexico-semantic groups of the Tatar, Bashkir and Chuvash languages. The research findings have shown that lexico-semantic groups reflect fragmentation of realities of the surrounding world. A contrastive and comparative study of these groups helps to understand the differences in cognition and segmentation of the same object by different languages. This also reflects the differences in the material and spiritual culture of the peoples.
