Abstract

The authors describe design skills as a closely related to pedagogical activity function of a teacher of a pre-higher education institution. The importance of design knowledge, skills and abilities was substantiated. It is emphasized that design is an operating system of influences, which makes the educational process sufficiently predictable and manageable, as a possible model of interaction of subjects, the adjustment of which is based on pedagogical prediction, forecasting the interaction process and its results. The purpose of the paper is to study the theoretical foundations of the development of design skills of teachers of pre-higher education as an important part in modern conditions for effective professional activity of the teacher; tasks is to determine criteria and indicators of teacher’s design skills in the institution of pre-higher education; formulation of requirements to the teacher's knowledge, which determine the emergence of design skills; building a clear system of pedagogical skills as components of design skills structure. Criteria and indicators of design skills of a teacher of pre-higher education are determined: independent professionally oriented thinking, creative attitude to design activities, value orientation to design activities, level of professional qualities and abilities, ability to design didactic systems using promising innovative and information technologies. The requirements for the designer have been clarified, as the activity of a teacher of a pre-higher education institution presupposes a certain correlation and integration of traditions and innovation, norms and creativity. The existence of a close connection between its design, forecasting, organizational and communicative functions has been proved. The design skills of teachers of pre-higher education institutions are considered to be effective if their projects: do not require additional resources; can be used by other teachers, regardless of experience and design skills; have the potential to reduce the cost of their implementation without losing the quality of the « product» .
