Abstract

The article discusses the phenomenon of language game as Sergei Dovlatov’s artistic style individual feature. Using the different types of language game is an essential characteristic of Sergei Dovlatov’s idiostyle. In accordance with the classification of the language game in framework of semiotic approach, semantic and syntactic language game are distinguished. The article performs such syntactic mechanism of creation of the language game as antithesis. The most productive type of antithesis – syncrisis is analyzed in the article. The principal functions of syncrisis in Sergei Dovlatov’s artistic style of early and mature periods are determined. According to the research we find out the following features of functioning syncrisis in Sergei Dovlatov’s idiostyle. Syncrisis is actively used for creation so-called «ironic antithesis». Syncrisis performs an entertaining and attitudinal functions in general. Using precedent names in the antithetical constructions helps to create different artistic effects in Sergei Dovlatov’s prose.
