Abstract

The mainstream linguistic investigations of the impersonal sentences are based on the structures with the verbal predicate; moreover, such research is primarily focused on the so called impersonal verbs. The impersonal sentences with the compound nominal predicate have not been under thorough investigation due to their inhomogeneous character. Above that, a stative, or an adjective, or a noun in the predicative function does not ascribe any thematic roles upon the other constituents of the syntactic structure, thus inhibiting description of the whole structure. The present article presents a systematic classification of the impersonal sentences with compound nominal predicates.
