Abstract

The main research of the present study was to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and its components (emotional self awareness, assertiveness, self-regard, self-actualization, independence, empathy, social responsibility, interpersonal relationship, reality testing, flexibility, problem solving, stress tolerance, impulse control, optimism, happiness) with sense of humor in university students. To accomplish the aims of the research 320 students were selected for the sample group using stratified random cluster sampling. Bar-on emotional intelligence and the sense of humor questionnaires were administered. Pearson,s correlation coefficient and analysis of stepwise regression were used to analyze data. Results showed that there is a positive meaningful relation between emotional intelligence and its components with sense of humor. Also of the between emotional intelligence components, optimism, self-actualization and happiness components are capable of predicting sense of humor.
