Abstract

The purpose of the article is to identify trends and prospects for the development of eco-culture in the context of European integration processes. The research methodology was based on the combination of general scientific methods of cognition and cultural approaches. In the process of studying and analyzing eco-culture, the following methods were applied: historical-culturological, historical-sociological, complex, structural-functional, value and factorial approaches, which are complementary, given the interdisciplinary nature of the problem and the promotion of systematization of different views on eco-culture; system analysis methods; generalization of the theory and practice of implementing international strategies for the development of eco-culture; modeling the development of eco-culture in the context of integration processes. The scientific novelty of the work. Innovative principles of eco-culture development were analyzed and promising trends in its development at the present stage were identified; the concept of “eco-culture” was clarified and supplemented in the context of the specifics of the modern socio-cultural space; it was found that intercultural communication in the context of modern integration processes is the main mechanism for the development of eco-culture. Conclusions. Eco-culture in the sociocultural space of the 21st century becomes a prerequisite for the life of the world community, and therefore is positioned as an indicator of the level of the spiritual life of society, upbringing and education, moral, intellectual and aesthetic development. Ecological principles of upbringing, culture and education based on ecological consciousness and morality, which will be realized in conditions of the existence of alternative views on the future of civilization, resting on the values of each individual, including society as a whole, acquire considerable expediency. Among the promising ways of eco-culture development in the context of European integration we can determine ensuring the rethinking of the need to activate environmental safety measures not so much materially but primarily in the moral and spiritual realm, by creating effective links between subject-theoretical experience and realistic tendencies of today; ensuring eco-cultural security of increasing public and private structures’ influence on society (mass media, socialization institutions, public and charitable organizations, etc.).
