Abstract

The article studies the formation of the regional public policy in modern Ukraine, and defines the main stages of this process. The author reveals the inconsistency of regional public policy and determines the critical effects of the fragmented approach applied to the development of regions by the state which resulted in economic, social and humanitarian spheres, and negatively affected the consolidation processes of the Ukrainian nation. Based on the analysis and generalization of research results, the necessity of forming a new regional policy in Ukraine is substantiated. The author identifies problem areas of regional public policy reform and suggests measures to improve regional management aimed at the creation of effective management systems able to provide self-development of regions. The problems of institutional support for regional development are examined and the ways for its improvement are given. The author proves the importance of forming multilevel management and establishing interaction among all entities influencing regional development.
