Abstract

In recent years, the transition from urban policy of quantitative growth to urban policy of qualitative maturity has begun in earnest in Korea due to the new paradigm of urban regeneration. This led to the important issue of the management and operation of the area by introducing the function of sustainable cities. As an urban policy of qualitative maturity, this study aims to consider ways to promote urban regeneration in Sinpyeong through participatory design in order to restore functions in the Sinpyeong district according to the Pyeongtaek City Urban Regeneration Strategy Plan. The Sinpyeong district urban regeneration project emphasizes the regional capacity building program for the revitalization of the human-centered local community, and expresses the importance of the utilization of local assets and continuous monitoring by local governments. It also proposes a performance management system, including the effects and problems of comprehensive urban regeneration projects. In promoting urban regeneration, participating design will be the right way to carry out urban regeneration projects as a way for all members of the urban community to participate. This study is a case study incorporating various reports and literature surveys and questionnaire methods. Based on this, it is expected to serve as the basis for the comprehensive implementation of urban regeneration projects and the continuous management system.
