Abstract

This study describes strengthening differences between phrasal verbs and propositional verbs among acoustic parameters such as vowel duration, intensity, and F0 produced by American speakers from the Buckey Corpus and by American and Daegu speakers. Also, this study analyzes phonetic correlation between F1 and F2. This study mainly obtained three findings: First, from the vowel duration of verb and adverb in both experimental and natural Corpus, it turns out that it has the original qualities of a vowels from the vowel duration and intensity. Second, prepositions were further weakened in the experimental speech and realized with various variations. Third, the distinction between prepositions used F2 as a clue rather than F1. In experimental utterances, Daegu speakers showed that the strengthening between the verb and the adverb was similar to that of the American speakers, and the differences in the parameter values of the verb and preposition produced by Daegu speakers were smaller than that of the American speakers.
