Abstract
The article considers the possible oil and gas potential on the layer's upper part of the permafrost on the example of the northeastern Siberian platform. The evident facts of existence of permeable intervals in permafrost are given. As an example is given a description of the geological structure of Verhnechimidikeensky oil shows, which is confined to the Lower Jurassic deposits and is located at the junction Vilyuiskaya syncline area and Anabar anteclise - the largest superorder structures of the Siberian platform in the east. Based on published data the various ideas are considered about the genetic nature of the oil. As an existing consensus about formation of Verhnechimidikeensky accumulation due to lateral migration remains controversial question of the direction of migration associated with different oil source deposits (Jurassic or Upper Paleozoic). A rough estimate of oil is made in the area of manifestation in about 2.8 mln tons. Emphasis is placed on an unusual «hanging» distribution of oil inside sand stratum. Lower Jurassic-age stratum with 12 m thickness contains lenticular oil accumulation with dimensions 3.2 * 2 km and up to 3.7 m thick. Though, sand beds without oil saturation on the top and bottom part of the oil saturation do not differ in lithological characteristics. It is suggested that Verhnechimidikeensky oil shows belong to relict interpermafrost aquifer. The sufficiently detailed study of the spread area of interpermafrost aquifers is briefly described as a modern counterpart on the Aldan anteclise’s northern slope with similar lithologic and stratigraphic implementation. The necessity of studying interpermafrost aquifers is noted for oil deposits in prospective territories.
