Abstract

Four processing cultivars of tomato, TM 103, Pub 66, Tainan Selection No. 2, and TIC 70, were sprayed with 1000 ppm ethephon at 25% red or pink fruit stage then the fruits were harvested at one, two, and three weeks after treatment. There is no significant differences in percentage of ripen fruit yield of one week after treatment between ethephon-treated and non-treated plots. Two weeks after treatment, the ethephon treated ones showed significantly increase in percentage of ripen fruit yield with the cultivars of TM 103 and TK 70. Ethephon treatment enhanced the increase of the ripen fruit yield percentage at three weeks after treatment in all cultivars except Peto 86.
