Abstract

Essence and importance of the principle of consciousness and activity is defined and status of its implementation at the classes of the students’ physical education. For this purpose, theoretical analysis and synthesis of scientific literature on the theory and methodology of physical education, pedagogy and psychology was conducted, questionnaire that include answers of 50 teachers of physical education working in higher educational institutions in Ternopil was also conducted. Results of the study indicate that the level of implementation of the principle of consciousness and activity during physical education and sports activities of students is extremely low. Especially negative is the fact that even such seemingly compulsory components as clarifying lesson objectives to the younger generation or motivation of students are not the components of each lesson.
