Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effects of graviola Ingestion and swimming exercise on body weight and blood lipid during the consumption of a high-fat diet. Forty-two male Sprague-Dawley rats were fed a high-fat diet and graviola Ingestion and were subjected to swimming exercise for 6 weeks. The swimming group and the high-fat diet+graviola Ingestion+swimming group showed significant weight loss. In terms of the food intake amount a significant decrease in food intake amount and a significant increase in dietary efficiency was observed in the high-fat diet group. The high-fat diet+graviola Ingestion+swimming group consumed a significantly large amount of graviola. Blood lipid content analysis showed the following: a significantly low TG content and high HDL-C content in the swimming group; and a significantly low LDL-C content in the high-fat diet+graviola Ingestion group and the high-fat diet+graviola Ingestion+swimming group. Therefore, the result showed that specific medicinal ingredients which the graviola ingestion worked, proposing positive result for the functionality of graviola. In this finding, various studies on the physiological agents possessed by graviola are expected to have a positive effect on anti-obesity and improvement of blood lipids.
