Abstract

Data on the crystalline basement structure, seismicity and seismotectonics of the Central Baltic Region for the last decade are summarized. A map of potentially hazardous seismic zones and deep sections through the Central Baltic depression and focal zone of the 2004 Kaliningrad earthquake were constructed using the structural analysis method. The mechanisms and focal depths of the 2004 earthquakes were specified using joint analysis of amplitude spectra of surface waves and signs of first arrivals. Absence of any progress in organization of Russian seismological observations is noted.
