Abstract

The auther attempts to get a clear silhouette of fabric defects or yarn irregularity by printing their figures directly on a photo-printing paper. The auther investigates the relation between the light angle and clearity of a silhouette. The main samples are filament fabrics. Lace, spun yarn fabrics, web, silver, roving, yarn and staple fibers are also chosen for samples. As a result, this method is considerably intended for practical use, because the operation is easy and does not need high expense. The experimental data are useful for a fundamental study to develop an automatic cloth inspecting machine which has a transiluminating system.
