Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine the differences in Korean and Chinese college students toward self-esteem, leisure satisfaction, satisfaction with college life, career self-efficacy, and life satisfaction. We also investigated which factors had strong effects on life satisfaction to identify the cross-cultural differences. The data were collected from K city in Korean and C city in China using a convenient sampling method, and 615 questionnaires were employed for data analysis. The results showed that Korean college students had stronger self-esteem, leisure satisfaction, satisfaction with college life, career self-efficacy, and life satisfaction than Chinese college students. In addition, self-esteem and leisure satisfaction significantly affected Korean college students’ life satisfaction, and satisfaction with life, career self-efficacy, and self-esteem had significant effect s on Chinese college students’ life satisfaction. Based on the findings of this study, we identified the cultural differences between Korea and China, and suggested ways to improve college students’ life satisfaction in each country.
