Abstract
This article suggests a common analysis of the views of a famous Russian historian, philosopher, sociologist Nikolai Kareev (1850-1931) in the aspect of the history of self-management. His works devoted to intellectual history of Western Europe and Russia were very popular at the end of XIXth and at the beginning of XXth century. He paid great attention to the problems of education, self-education and self-development. His analysis of philosophic and sociological conceptions of the XIXth century is topical nowadays in aspects of constant social and individual perfection and in the aspect of modern self-management too.
